This delicious burger recipe is not only easy to make and oh-so-mouthwatering, but it is also good for you eyes. Turkey is high in zinc which can improve your eyesight. Eating healthy is of utmost importance. This recipe serves about 4.
Ingredients:
Patties:
- 500g Ground turkey
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 cup Green onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup Whole wheat bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup Flat-leaf parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper
Toppings:
- 2 Orange peppers
- 3 tbsp Dijon mustard (grainy)
- Lettuce, rocket or spinach
- 4 Whole-wheat burger buns
Method:
- In a mixing bowl combine the turkey, egg, onion, bread crumbs, parsley, salt and pepper. Mix well. Using your hands is the most effective method of mixing.
- Place in refrigerator.
- Place a grill pan on high heat and grill the peppers until charred on both sides. Place the peppers in a paper bag and close. Set aside for about 10 minutes. The steam will help loosen the skins from the peppers.
- Once cooled. Collect the juices in a small bowl then peel the peppers and cut them into quarters and remove all stems and seeds. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl combine 1 tbsp of the pepper juice you collected with Dijon mustard and mix. Set aside.
- Grill your patties on the grill until cooked through.
- Toast your buns just before your patties are completely cooked.
- Top the buns with the lettuce, grilled peppers, patties and then lastly the delicious pepper and mustard sauce.
NOTE: Be creative, add some caramelised onions, cheese or even an egg. Just as long as you have your turkey, peppers and greens your good to go.
