Indulging in chocolate has been around since 1900 B.C. Chocolate originated from Mesoamerica, where the Aztecs believed that the cocoa seed were a gift from the God of Wisdom. Warriors use to drink a cup of hot chocolate before a battle as chocolate was not only an aphrodisiac but could also give you immense power and strength during battle.
I personally found chocolate at a very young age and loved it immediately. As I got older the chocolate became darker and more exotic. No more Nestle or Cadbury’s, only the best chocolatiers Lindt in Switzerland, Ghirardelli in San Francisco, Guylian in Belgium, Perugina in Italy, Ethel’s Chocolate in Chicago, Richart in France, La Maison du Chocolat in Paris, Neuhaus in Brussels, Chuao Chocolatier in Sandiego and Godiva Chocolatier in Brussels.
After writing all these names I just had to get up, go to the fridge and break off a small piece of my truly irresistible Lindt Chili chocolate. I think I’ll be able to finish this blog now. But back to the facts. Chocolate does not only taste amazing but it can also be amazing for your health. The health benefits of dark chocolate include:
- May lower cholesterol
- May prevent memory decline
- May reduce risk of heart disease
- May help prevent stroke
- May help manage stress
- May prevent diabetes as dark chocolate helps prevent insulin resistance
With all these benefits we can never say no to a piece of dark chocolate!
