Is your mouth making you sick?

Your mouth is the most important part of your body. Its the first thing people look at when they talk to you, it’s the first thing they smell or hopefully don’t smell and it says a great deal about the type of person you are.

We have all met that one person who has a “keep your distance” breath. I always feel bad for people with bad breath as this is my greatest fear. Bad breath is not always an indication of poor oral hygiene.

Bad breath and gum disease can be caused by the following:

  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Alcohol
  • Coffee
  • Strong smelling foods like onion and garlic
  • Pneumonia or bronchitis
  • Chronic sinus infection
  • Post natal drip
  • Chronic acid reflux
  • Diabetes
  • Liver disease
  • Kidney disease
  • Smoking
  • Crash diets
  • Certain medication, tranquilizers and nitrates

Having good oral hygiene is very important and not very difficult. It is important to brush your teeth for at least 2 minutes, twice daily. Floss once daily, I find its better to floss in the evenings as bacteria is more out and about during this time. Use an good mouthwash, especially those with an antiseptic. See your Dentist every 6 months! Going to your dentist twice a year is not a way for them to make more money, it is a way for you to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

Keep up your health with Ozone Therapy. As stated above bad breath is not only caused by a lack of oral hygiene. Ozone therapy can neutralize toxins and impurities in the body, fight signs of sinus infection, fights off diabetes, neutralizes excess acids in the body and increases white blood cells in the body which helps fight infection.
