During the summer months, I usually move away from heavy meats like beef and lamb. I prefer lighter healthier foods. This recipe yields 4 patties and each patty contains about 190 calories.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Red onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup Basil, thinly sliced fresh
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Black pepper, freshly ground
- 1 x 450g Salmon fillet, skinned and chopped
- 1 tbsp Hot pepper sauce
- 1 large Egg white
- Cooking spray
- 4 buns of your choice
Method:
- In a large mixing bowl combine the onion, basil, salt, pepper and salmon pieces.
- Lightly whisk the pepper sauce and egg white together in a smaller mixing bowl.
- Add the egg white mixture to the salmon mixture and combine well.
- Divide mixture into 4 equal balls and lightly flatten the balls to about 1,5cm thick.
- Coat a frying pan with cooking spray and heat over a medium-high heat.
- Place the patties onto the pan and cook for about 3 minutes on each side, until brown.
- Top your burgers with your favourite toppings and sauces.
- Serve and enjoy!
NOTE: You can also make mini patties with this recipe and serve them as finger foods or snacks with a little bit of dipping sauce.
