And so we start the month of February with our “Gluten Free” theme.
For those of you who aren’t aware, we have decided to give each month its own theme. The month of February will be Gluten free recipes only! As Gluten intolerance have increased over the years more an more people are opting for a fruit and vegetable diet only, as Gluten free products can be very expensive. We will try our best to give you pocket friendly recipes.
We are starting things off with a delicious black forest hot chocolate!
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk
- 140g dark chocolate
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- ⅓ – ½ cups maraschino cherry liquid, depending on your taste
- ⅓ cup coffee liqueur
- Whipped cream or dairy free whipped “cream”
- 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 maraschino cherries with stems
Directions
- Bring milk to a simmer over a medium heat.
- Take off heat and stir in chocolate, vanilla and maraschino cherry liquid. Stir until chocolate has completely melted
- Rest mixture for about 5 minutes
- Reheat the mixture over a low heat. When it starts to simmer add coffee liqueur and stir
- Pour mixture into mugs and add some cream, cocoa powder and cherries on top
- Drink and enjoy!
