[Recipe] Indulge your cravings Tuna Bake

Ingredients:

  • 300g Macaroni pasta
  • Cooking spray
  • 40g Butter
  • 2 tbsp Plain flour
  • Pepper
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 3/4 cup Cheddar cheese
  • 425g can Tuna in springwater, drained, flake

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200ºC/ 400ºF.
  2. In a medium saucepan, add water with salt and a drizzle of olive oil. Add the uncooked macaroni and cook according to package instruction.
  3. Prepare an oven proof dish with cooking spray.
  4. In a saucepan melt your butter and add some pepper.
  5. Using a fork add the flour and stir until the butter and flour forms a dough-like substance.
  6. Gradually pour in your milk and whisk. Cook on a medium heat for about 5 minutes, whisking continuously. Do not over whisk as this can inhibit the thickening process.
  7. When the mixture is thick enough to your liking, remove from the heat and stir in 1/4 cup of the cheese with a wooden spoon. Set aside.
  8. Drain the pasta and reserve 1/4 cup of the cooking liquid.
  9. Add the cooking liquid, tuna and cheese mixture to the pasta and combine well.
  10. Spoon mixture into prepared baking dish and top with the rest of the cheese.
  11. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Serve and enjoy!
