Cervical cancer awareness

More than half a million women are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year and a quarter million will lose the battle each year.

Cervical cancer is where abnormal cells grow on the cervix. The most common cause of cervical cancer is a virus called human papillomavirus (HPV) which is transmitted through sexual intercourse. There are also two types of cells on the surface of the cervix called squamous and columnar cells. Cervical cancer may slowly develop from squamous cells. These cells are precancerous and is 100% treatable with antibiotics.

In the starting phase of cervical cancer women may have no symptoms or even overlook symptoms like abnormal bleeding and pain blaming it on their menstrual cycle. When severe symptoms start to occur it might be too late. Getting a late diagnosis can be very dangerous. Your cervix sits very close to your other abdominal organs which makes the spreading of cancer so much easier. Cervical cancer can spread to the bladder, intestines, liver, pancreas and even the lungs.

The symptoms for advanced cervical cancer may include:

  • Back pain
  • Bone pain or fractures
  • Pain in your legs or one leg may be swollen
  • Fatigue
  • Unexplainable weight loss
  • Urine or feces leakage
  • Pelvic pain
  • Loss of appetite

It is so important for women to go for a yearly PAP test. It might not be the most comfortable thing to do but is it one of the most important. No one is immune no matter what your age, sexual status or family history.

After getting your clean bill of health at your OBGYN, you might start focusing on living a healthier life. Cutting cancer causing foods containing genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) is a great way to start. GMOs are used to enhance foods like conventional corn, canola and soybeans. They have no place in any diet as they cause rapid tumor growth. Buy organic or locally-grown foods that are free of GMOs (always check the label). You may also want to steer clear of processed meats, microwave popcorn, soda, refined (white) flour, refined sugars, conventional fruits, farmed salmon and hydrogenated oils as all these are major cancer causing foods. Rather buy organic foods free from pesticides and hormones or rather start your own veggie patch.

Getting enough exercise will also improve your health drastically. Ozone therapy will help you rid your body from toxins that have built up over the years so you can start from fresh. You can also make use of ozone therapy if you have been diagnosed with cervical cancer. Ozone purifies the blood, increases white blood cell productions to aid your body in fighting cancerous cells. Ozone will also combat the side effects of Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy.

Will you be visiting your OBGYN soon?
