[Recipe] Layered blueberry avocado smoothie

I know this sounds like a strange combination but try it! Not only is it delicious but this smoothie may improve your heart and brain function. It may also lower your cholesterol.

This recipe makes 4 servings.

[Recipe] Layered blueberry avocado smoothie - Nutritional information

Ingredients:

First layer:

  • 1 Avocado, peeled and cut into cubes
  • 1 cup Plain yogurt, low-fat
  • 1/2 Lime, juice
  • 45ml Honey

Second layer: 

  • 1 1/3 cup Wild blueberries, frozen
  • 1/4 cup Almond butter, or you can use smooth peanut butter
  • 1 cup Plain yogurt, low-fat
  • 1/3 cup Milk

Method:

First layer –

  1. In a blender, blend the avo, yogurt, lime juice and honey.
  2. Pour mixture, equally, into 4 serving glasses
  3. Wash the blender.

Second layer-

  1. Add the berries, almond butter, yogurt and milk to the blender and blend.
  2. Top your first layer with your second layer.
  3. Serve and enjoy!
