[Recipe] Cauliflower Crust Pizzas

This delicious recipe is easy to make and takes about 90 minutes to prepare. Cauliflower is a great substitute for flour. Perfect for all the Gluten-Free lovers out there.

Ingredients:

Cauliflower crusts:

  • 1 medium Head cauliflower, chopped
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 large Egg
  • ½ tsp Garlic powder
  • ½ tsp Dried Oregano
  • ¼ tsp Salt

For the pizza topping:

  • 250g Ground beef
  • ¼ cup Yellow squash, shredded
  • ¼ cup Zucchini, shredded
  • 1 Clove garlic, minced
  • ¼ tsp Dried Oregano
  • Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • ½ cup Tomato sauce
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded

Equipment and supplies:

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Food processor
  • Baking sheet lined with parchment paper
  • Knife for chopping
  • Kitchen towel
  • Medium bowl
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Microwave
  • Sauté pan

Method:

Make the cauliflower crusts:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Prepare your baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. Then, place the cauliflower in a food processor and pulse until fine.
  4. Place the cauliflower into a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for about 4 minutes.
  5. Set aside to cool.
  6. When the cauliflower is nice and cooled, place your cauliflower into a kitchen towel and squeeze out any excess liquids.
  7. Place the cauliflower into a medium mixing bowl and add the mozzarella, egg, garlic powder, oregano and salt. Stir until fully combined.
  8. Divide the mixture into 8 equal amounts and form into balls.
  9. Flatten the balls with your hands, until its about 5mm thick. You can make any shape.
  10. Place your cauliflower shapes onto your prepared baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes.
  11. Flip crust over and bake for a further 15 minutes on the other side.
  12. Remove from oven and start adding your toppings.

While waiting for your crust, prepare the toppings:

  1. Place the beef, yellow squash, zucchini, garlic, oregano and pepper into a pan.
  2. Sauté until beef is cooked through.
  3. Drain any excess liquids.

Assembling and baking your pizza:

  1. Spread the tomato sauce onto the cauliflower base.
  2. Then top with the beef mixture.
  3. Finish off by topping with cheese.
  4. Place pizza in oven for about 6 minutes until the cheese starts to bubble.

NOTE: You are welcome to use any toppings and base sauces. Just remember to add a base sauce or your pizza will be dry.
