Winter is officially here in South Africa. For most parts, it has been cold and rainy. In this blog we will be discussing how you could prepare better for a healthier winter season & to prevent yourself from getting a cold or flu by aid of ozone & an annual vaccine. And let’s not forget the loom of a new COVID spike.

With COVID being around for more than a year now, most of us have forgotten about the everyday health issues. It is very important for us to follow COVID guidelines and practice social distancing, but it is also important to look after your body in a non-COVID related way too.

Prepping for Flu Season

Luckily with COVID, a lot of us have added a healthier daily routine to our lives. Even though nothing can prevent COVID, regular ozone therapy, eating right, exercise and drinking supplements can help boost your immune system which in turn can assist your body in fighting disease.

It is important for us to give our bodies enough supplements so that it is strong enough to fight whatever happens. So, have you gotten your flu vaccine yet?

Why you should get the Flu vaccine

In the world we live in today, flu-like symptoms can be an indication of something far worse than Flu. It is more important than ever for us to prevent getting the flu. Reason one is that even though it’s just the flu, your body goes through a lot, which makes it weaker and more prone for more serious infections.

So far studies have shown, that those with flu who contracted COVID too have a harder time fighting the disease and have a longer recovery time.

Second, when you have flu-like symptoms it is vital that you either quarantine for 2 weeks or that you go for a COVID test. This can cause a strain on your already weakened system and can cost you working days.

What is the Flu vaccine?

Influenza vaccines, also known as flu shots or flu jabs, are vaccines that protect against infection by influenza viruses. New versions of the vaccines are developed twice a year, as the influenza virus rapidly changes.

How does it work?

According to the CDC; “Flu vaccines cause antibodies to develop in the body about two weeks after vaccination. These antibodies provide protection against infection with the viruses that are used to make the vaccine”.

Myths about the Flu shot.

There are quite a few myths regarding the Flu shot. Check out this older post below:

[Inforgraphic] Facts and myths about the Flu

A popular one is that the Flu shot can actually give you the Flu. That is not true. If you get flu-like symptoms after getting the Flu that means that you already contracted the virus.

Flu shots are only preventative and can thus not treat or cure Flu. So if you’ve ever gotten the Flu after getting your vaccine, nine times out of ten you already had the Flu.

Allergic reactions with the Flu shot.

Like anything you put inside your body, you can have an allergic reaction to the shot. This is very rare. It is important to always get your shot from a reputable medical outlet. Should you experience any form of discomfort, seek medical advice as soon as possible.

What else can you do?

As always, a healthy lifestyle can do wonders for your overall health. Not just to fight against COVID & the Flu, but for most diseases.

Regular ozone therapy sessions can give you that extra boost by detoxing your body of any built up toxins and impurities, which is very difficult to do with only exercise & diet.

Ozone Therapy and the Flu.

Regular ozone therapy can drastically improve your overall health. Ozone has more than a hundred health benefits and can be done at a local spa or clinic or in the comfort of you own home in an ozone sauna.

For those suffering from regular bouts of flu or seasonal allergies, one can also consider an insufflation kit as a great and cost effective alternative.
